REVIEW |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Once again the weather dominated the pre-match talk. Heavy overnight rain had seen levels rise some eighteen inches and water temperature drop from a healthy 44f to last weeks high of 42f. As is usual when levels rise and temperatures drop, the fish tightened up and became reluctant to feed in any numbers and for any length of time. If the above was not enough, the wind picked up to a blustery 35-45 mph and made presentation a nightmare on the long pole. R Spence (Sensas Image Bromages), however, did have somewhat of a better day than most when he drew the golden peg 24 and proceeded to take 92-00-0 of Carp on the long pole fishing Pellet and Corn hook baits. More than enough to take top spot, the Golden Peg Pool (Golden Peg back to one) and beat fellow team angler G Thorne into second place with a creditable 51-08-0 from Peg 27. Similar tactics to the winner were employed. The Lake continues to improve as spring attempts to arrive. A few dry weeks and mild nights would help matters a great deal. Its worthy of note that more anglers caught on Pellet than in recent weeks. What this means, I'm not sure!!?
