REVIEW

5 Double Tons and 5 Tons - Race hot's up for UK Record.

With Carp responded well to the relaxed ruling for the Saturday Special Matches, in that anglers are allowed to feed floating expander pellets - all other forms of pellets remain banned and only in an advertised Saturday PM Special is will this be allowed. However, as with many Carp venues a new feeding technique will not always be the best! It takes time. This certainly was the case, as many Carp cruised around and nudged larger hook offerings.

Stan Robak - "Concentrating!"

A handful of anglers 'sussed this earlier that others and a switch from 6mm hookers to 4mm hookers resulted in a positive response.

This was definitely the case with Ton Up Baits backed angler Colin Storey on Peg 32 (Golden Peg as well!) Colin took fish close in to the bank and back towards Peg 8. He was amassed at the amount of fish feeding in such a close area, but got over this to take a match winning 268-12; the sixth highest (qualifying) match weight from Rolfslake.co.uk

On a day were 133lb was only good enough for 10th place, most returned home happy pondering how they could double the catch rate to achieve a 430lb bag.

As more and more anglers become accustomed to the lake, backing weights are noticeably on the increase. A numberl of anglers have already taken more than on double ton this year alone. Moreover, some of these have developed after poor, or at best average, starts. The potential is there for a huge weight; the only question is who will get it?
