Golden
Peg for Dave Dave
Wightman (Simons 2000) Fishing at 16m
on Peg 18, the Simons backed anger made the best of a decent draw
by winning the match with a super 147lb 4oz on the Golden Peg. Dave
cupped in pellet and fished sweetcorn over the top. Dave was delighthed
with the Golden Peg bonus payout as it seems Christmas may be arriving
early at Rolfslake.
Gary
Thorpe (Ton Up Baits) - Once again the bridesmaid,
Gary finished a very tight match just one fish short of yet another
match win. Drawn on Peg 27, the lake regular fished much the same
as anyone else with a 16m approach. Small cups of pellet and a single
grain of corn hook bait tempted most of the carp.
Elsewhere.
A cracking Sunday match that produced no fewer than half a dozen
Ton Up weights. With so many in contention the weigh in as good
as the match itself. However, hidden in the shade on Peg 13 a frozen
Frank Wedgbrow lost a big fish and a bit of time sorting out a hooklength.
Frank eneded with 131lb for forth behind Dan Jones with 133lb in
3rd place. All top 4 anglers could have won the match with one large
lump. A patient approach at 16m on the deck with sweetcorn is producing
the best weights as the carp back off as the temeratures cool.
John
Bennett took the silver fish match with 28lb from Peg 28. John found
it hard to get to the better roach with maggott baits. He also had
to put up with a few carp in the peg chasing fry in the margins
and spooking other feeding fish.
