Gary
Thorpe (Ton Up Baits) Fishing just a power top 2 out from
the platform at peg 33, Gary Thorpe got an instant response from
the carp on his faithful paste hook baits. However, to his own frustration
the fish would not 'line up' enough for him to pressure a new record.
Too often the hook let go, and even the odd float arranged itself
round his pole top as another hooked carp returned to the depths
of the lake. All the same, Gary did get 349lb of fish to take first
place in the Rolfs lake Sunday match. A 'Tidy' days fishing in anyone's
books. (I wish my nightmares ended in 350lb of fish!)
Trevor
Price. (Ton UP Baits) Drawn opposite Gary on Peg 9 was
fellow team mate Trevor Price. Much like Gary, Trevor found himself
into fish without having to wait too long. Again an approach of
about 4m's with Paste hook baits over 4 and 6mm Ton Up Pellets returned
a respectable 299lb.
John
Bennett (Daiwa Swindon) Peg 4 has seen a few big weights
the year and today was no exception. Daiwa backed John Bennett fished
short with Paste baits over a good bed of Pellets for a return of
225lb and 3rd place for the lake regular.
(Now,
I've been accused of plugging Ton Up Pellets too much and would
like to ask those bagging up on this gear to try something less
successful. Don't worry as soon as someone wins with Sensas or VDE
for example I will be the first to report it!)
Elsewhere
- Rolf fancied this weekend for a magical 500lb return, but it was
not to be. However, Carp are feeding well in all pegs - as today's
top ten proved!
