to his recent good form with a win on the first match after Christmas.
Drawn on Peg 33, Dave fished back towards Peg 8/9 at 7m. This put
his bait into the deeper water that exists just past a shelf. From
the off Dave was into fish and his sweetcorn hook baits kept the
Carp interested for the full 5 hours. Dave took the only ton of
the day with a winning weight of 128lb

on Peg 34, Gary fished at 8m towards the lilies in this popular
peg. Again sweetcorn was the bait that produced the bites and consequent
fish for a 91lb total and just a single fish ahead of 3rd place
Mike Stimpson (Didcot) who returned 87-12
Elsewhere.
With the weather remaining unsettled, and today was not exception
with freezing winds and dipping temperatures, the fishing was not
as good as it could be for the time of year. However, should a settled
cool or warmer period ever arrive things will change for sure.
