REVIEW

Winner at Rolfslake

Winner: Matt McDermott creates a few waves at Peg 15 on his way to 201lb

Matt McDermott (Mosella)

Quick to realise that the Carp were feeding off the top with some confidence, Mosella backed angler Matt McDermott switched from Pellet hook baits fished shallow to a Chum Mixer fished off the top. The result was a net busting 201lb 12oz winning bag - double the weight of the nearest rival. Matt was drawn on Peg 15 and took full advantage of the extra distance the peg protrudes out into the lake when compared to Pegs 16,17,18 - even more so with fish feeding freely beyond the 16m line on the other pegs.

Colin Wedgbrow (Slapheads)

The fight for second place was a tight battle from Pegs 26 (Colin Wedgbrow) and 24 (Tony West.) With both anglers exchanging second spot throughout the match the finish could not have been tighter, once again the frame was split with just one single fish. Colin coming out top with 93lb 12oz to Tony's 92lb 12oz. Both anglers followed Matt's tac-tics and resorted to 'plopping' floaters beyond the pole line to mug the odd fish.

Elsewhere

With an inject of cold rain water and bright warm conditions the Carp spent most of the match in the top warmer layers of the lake. A Chum mixer fished on a long line a good change bait when all else fails or the fish become to high in the water.

Managed to take this good fish but struggled for bites as fish cruised out of range for most of the match.

Did you fish this match and I've missed out (or messed up!) some of the details?   Let me know all the info - admin@rolfslake.co.uk
