REVIEW

Rolfslake Match Fishing Carp Winner

Winner Matt Nutt( )

Sunday win for Matt Nutt.

Matt Nutt (Prestwood & Dist)   Drawn on yesterdays winning Peg 14, Prestwood and District backed angler Matt Nutt was immediately into fish having located the 'bar' the Peg is well know for. Fishing at 14.5m Matt soon got into a rhythm with the fish and returned a net busting 185lb - well clear of the chasing pack. Matt fished sweetcorn over pellets - Matt was positive in his feeding approach and cashed when the popular winter peg responded favorably.

Norman Youlden (TUB) Norman continued his good run of form into the New Year by finishing as runner up in the first Sunday match of the year at Rolfslake. Drawn on the peg that was runner up yesterday, Peg 17, the Epson angler also took full advantage of the 'captive audience' with his feeding and returned a level 106lb by fishing similar tactics to Matt on Peg 14. Third placed Russell Alexander struggled for 3hrs in Peg 34, as fish after fish topped on the wrong side of the buoys that protect the lilly pads. A switch to fishing just past the 9th buoy led to a small run of fish and 3rd place for Russell with 77lb 8oz (one of 3 anglers on 77lb.)

Elsewhere. For those wanting to sit it out for Carp there seems to be at least a hand full of fish more than willing from most pegs- However, with the normal winter pegs coming into form it is not possible to frame with less than 70lb, or so it seems.

Silver fish in most pegs but feeding required to get them concentrated enough to make a big weight. Although most anglers still content with a late switch to chase the Silver fish coin. Anyone who sets out to catch silvers from the off should pick up at least some coin. With 11lb possible in less than an hour, most Silver fish coins have been won with less than 15lb this winter! maybe a result of the Carp feeding well into December. With mild weather forecast this week expect better weights next weekend. (If not flooded!!!!!)
