Following the very sudden and sad loss of Pete Churton earlier this year, a memorial match was held in his memory at Rolfslake on Friday in conjunction with BDAA. A grand total of £700 was raised for the Disabled Anglers Charity.
A very big Thank you to Keith Arthur for rallying such a motley crew and making everything work. Many thanks also to Mark Sawyer for helping out at the presentations, Ton Up Baits for backing the event and last but not least Kevin Arathoon for the refreshments.
Disappointingly, the fishing was not up to par as fished cruised around in warming temperatures. Peg 8 topped the frame with 109-08 of pellet caught fish for Harefield angler Skip McCabe. Skip fished close to the far side grasses to take fish to close to double figures. The only other Ton Up weight came from Peg 4 for Ton Up Baits backed John Lees with 101-12.
The Motley Crew !
Keith Arthur (Sky Sports Tight Lines, TalkSport and Fishing Guru/Mega Star!!)
Finally got cramp after 2hrs posing for this photo. May have won the match had he not gave in to the pressure from the paparazzi!
Barry Gannon
(Colmic)
One of the Counties top Match Carp Anglers on show at Rolfslake.
Gary Boweren
()
Tried to temp the Carp close.
3 Wise Monkeys
Trevor Price (Middle) won the Silly Hat Contest.
Mark Sawyer
(Essex Van Den Eynde)
Fished Peg 32 for 64lb 4oz of pristine Carp and 5th place on the day. Mark is living proof that you don't need Ton Up Pellets to bag at Rolfslake!
Skip McCabe
(Harefield Tackle)
A double that went towards the 109lb 8oz winning weight. On Peg 8, you don't need too many of these to make a Ton.
Keith Arthur
(Sky Sports, Talksport)
A great ambassador for the sport of fishing.
Did
you fish this match and I've missed out (or messed up!) some of the details?
