A Special mention for Trevor Price and John Lees. Now Peg 14 & 15 in the winter are great pegs, in the summer they can be very hit and miss and at best you'll be hounded by fish in the 3lb class. Trevor took 150lb from 15 today and seems to be challenging Gary for the King of Bad Draws jersey. John is just one of those unlucky guys - his recent draws have included Peg 15 twice and today he drew 14 for a change - his 108lb was good enough for 17th!!
Lake is showing some it's best form ever, with Ton Up bags coming out from all pegs the fish are split up and feeding well. Paste is well and truly the bait to frame on but don't get too blinkered on hotter days?

Gary Thorpe
(Ton Up Baits)
221lb 4oz Peg 28
With the new Paste mix from Ton Up Baits on sale for the first week at Rolfslake, it came as no surprise that the fish soon homed in on the smell and a lot of anglers started bagging up with the mixture. The paste is easy to mix and just seems to be about right in nearly all aspects. In total, no fewer than 17 anglers returned a weight greater than 100lb's today.
Top of the pile was Gary Thorpe, who has been using this mix for over 18 months and enjoyed a good match win with thanks to a belting 20lb Carp on the whistle. Gary fished just 6m with his newly released for sale paste mix (he would say that wouldn't he?) over 4mm pellet fed at first by hand and later in the match by cup in an attempt to tighten the fish and push out the silver fish. Gary also experimented with a few large pellets on the hook instead of the Paste to some success but reverted back to Paste to push home a superb match winning weight of 221lb 4oz.
Gary added £1 from my pocket to his winnings as I could only muster 184lb 4oz from Peg 7. I was pleased with my weight and may have won the match but for an awful 4th hour that returned just a few fish. During this period I went from one angling disaster to another - these included returning a 5lb+ Carp as my landing net split (only used it 5 trips) that cost me a frame. Still I'm sure we all lost fish or could ague the case for catch more after the fact?
Dave Stratful
(Prestwood & District)
205lb Peg 3
Drawn in the shallow half of Rolfslake on Peg 3, Dave managed to avoid the Silver's with his pellet hook baits and quickly settled a good number of Carp in his peg that he plundered for most of the 5hr period.
Feeding a good amount of 4mm Pellet and fishing an 8mm hook bait to the corner peg reeds and long grasses was the successful tac-tics that returned Dave a net busting 205lb - just 5lb ahead of unlucky Dave Hawkins on Peg 34 who had just a hand full of fish in the first 3hrs but returned 200lb 4oz's at the final whistle - Although like myself Dave did find a good number of Chub, Perch, Roach and most other species that don't count at this time of the year!
Dave Hawkins
Dorchester
Eh. Hang on I'm kind 'a busy right now.
Dave's return of 200lb 4oz was nearly as big as his hangover. Could have won the match from Peg 34 had he not spent so long laughing at my attempts to stay out of the water!
Graham King
-
114lb only good enough for 16th place. All the same a good day's match fishing.
.
Steve Liston
Swindon
Drew Peg 8 - AGAIN! won there last week with 317lb but the fish didn't feed on the inside until late in the match. Even this cracking 16lb Common couldn't help him frame today, however, it did boost his weight to healthy 153lb 12oz.
.
Trevor Price
Ton Up Baits
150lb + from Peg 15. Has Trevor got the worst draw bag hand at Rolfs? Has to amongst the top 3.
Dave Wightman
Simons 2000
His sponsor wouldn't let Dave fish with Ton Up Paste so Dave resorted to fishing meat tight to the bank on Peg 32 for a one fish short of 200lb...(Only Joking!) Dave can't fish paste.(Still Joking.) Hey Dave, does this mean you have to fish with Red Hydro on the Hook?
Tony Yianni
Banstead
An off day for Tony as he drew on of the few pegs not to respond today.
Brian Ashley
Little Dawley
Drew Peg 10 on his first visit and returned 130lb + with a catch that included fish to low doubles and a bream of 5lb 12oz.
Lloyd Rush
Tek Neek Trabucco
184lb 4oz from Peg 7. A rare fish in the 4th hour and a small one at that. Carry on fishing like this and I'll be quick to attract sponsorship from Billy Smarts Circus.....
During this period I spent a few moments holding onto the bank following a slip whilst reaching for a drink, this just added to the 4th hour non fishing moments. Where's that Golf kit.
Sean Walton
Little Dawley
177lb from Peg 23, great weight from an average peg. Not bad for his first visit. No doubt Sean will be looking forward to his Club match at Rolfslake next month.

Did
you fish this match and I've missed out (or messed up!) some of the details?
