Fishing on one of this seasons surprise from pegs this Saturday was in form Swindon Matchman John Bennett. Fishing just the length of a power top 2 out, next to a small bush and tight to a drop off, John exploited both his and the Carp's confidence in soft paste hook baits for a match winning 185lb 5oz.

John likes to hold the paste at the top a ledge on pegs like this and slowly let the bait drop down into deeper water to produce very positive bites.

Peg 26 had been left out from recent match as a result from an over active Bumble Bee's nest! However, us match anglers are made from harder stuff, and it was raining, so the peg was restored to the draw bag for the Saturday open by Gary.

Poetically, Gary drew the peg and conducted a fine display of paste fishing at 6m for runner up spot with 135lb 4oz ahead of team mate Trevor 'Can't Draw' Price on Flyer Peg 24 - The first half decent draw for Trevor in ages; for the record Trev fished at 8m for his 118lb 12oz.
