Tony
Kent (Hounslow)
A
Saturday without wind and not a frost all week! Drawn on form
Peg 17 Tony Kent (Hounslow) put together one of the better
weights so far this year with a net busting 179lb 8oz despite
suffering from 2 broken landing nets during the match. Having
started from the off fishing at 14.5m and just touching bottom
with his pellet hook bait. Tony soon found himself fishing
2ft off bottom, and consequently 1ft deep as the fish chased
the feed higher and higher in the water.
Tony
added that a change to a Kamazan 911 size 14 from a 16 which
had slightly dropped off the bites later in the match. However,
the fish to bite ratio had stayed about the same if not improved
on the bigger hook.
Mick
Wilkinson (Sensas)
Sensas
backed Mick Wilkinson drew peg 14, a winter hot spot, and
put together a near 100lb bag of paste caught Carp. Although,
even for peg 14, the fish average was very small (9 fish for
15lb! I think was the quote) However, a switch to paste in
the second half of the match soon put Mick into a steady run
of fish. Not enough to keep pace with Tony on 17 but at least
as he could look round the lake and see most anglers fishing
with his latest batch of hand made floats - what a nice guy
to have given every one some floats! Mick's floats come in
2 sizes apparently - Size 1, Size 2 and Size 3!! I've not
worked that out yet Mick?

Elsewhere
For
the first time in ages fish a blowing on the initial feed
and coming up in the water to catapulted pellet feed. Soon
be Paste Season. Forget the Silver fish - Carp in most pegs,
apart from 28 which is solid with Skimmers!! Having said that,
I bet a good weight comes of 28 on Sunday as I filled in the
15m line with pellet in the last hour today!
