Pete
Coxhead (Rolfslake) 130-12 (C Section)
Drawn on Yesterdays
winning peg, Pete Coxhead (Rolfslake) took full advantage of Peg
17 and was into fish from the off. Feeding heavy to hold the fish
seemed to be the Key to Pete's 167-12 winning weight as he kept
the fish on the deck and converted a high number of bites into
fish.
Next door on Peg 18
was Gary Thorpe (TUB), Gary also fed heavy (as per normal) but
could not draw Pete's fish. However, worthy of note was the 24lb
fish he landed in 50 seconds! Now there's an advert for a Kamazan
B911 14!
Matt McDermott (Mosella)
130-08. (B Section)
Drawn on un fancied
(poor form) Peg 4, the Mosella backed angler took a run of fish
later on in the match. Matt fully exploited the bar that runs
between Peg 4 and 37, by cupping in pellet on top of the bar and
just touching bottom with his pellet hook bait. In a section where
38lb was 3rd, Matt's 130lb was a quality result from a quality
angler and Matt will go into the draw bag in the morning as favorite
to retain the title he won last year.

Dave Wightman (Simons
2000) 81-00 (A Section)
Surprisingly, for the
Second day running Peg 19 won A Section thanks to a fine performance
from Simons 2000 Angler and lake expert Dave Wightman. Dave took
full advantage of a small shrub on the inside line to his left
and the bar between 7 and 11m.
The lake fished a
little better for those two anglers in touching distance of a
noted peg. On Peg 15, Trabucco's Andy 'Picasso' Johnstone resorted
to what only could be described as pole 'fly fishing' at 16m and
took 2 Carp for 27lb in the later stages to boost his weight to
89lb when all around him had stopped getting bites.
Once again, the lake
slowed in the last hour for all but a few pegs.
