Colin Wedgbrow "A reduced number of peg to accommodate the Red Lion Club Match " Fishing hard pellet close to the bank and feeding expanders and hard sinkers over the top, Colin took a number of double figure fish to boost his weight into the magic double figures. Colin laughed about his run of bad draws and was relieved to have taken a match win so quickly after the summer festival.
John Bennett ran all of the ten yards from the draw to peg 32 and proceeded to take plenty of fish for a bridesmaids 173lb to keep winner Colin's brother, Frank Wedgbrow, in 3rd place at Peg 34. Clive Whitehead and Pete Archer caught late in the match for 161lb+ each and made up the remainder of the TON UP weights. Fishing continues to be slow at the start. However, building on you weight seems to be key. Take one fish at a time and be committed to the tactic you have chosen. It's better to fish the wrong tactic well than 3 or 4 badly. For an alternative try feeding a higher number of small expander pellet and cut back the 4mm sinkers. This may get a few extra paste fish and keep the Carp interested in feeding a little longer. |
