Saturday 05 February 2005 - Open Match

Russell Alexander
(Rolfslake)
Peg 14 - 50lb 12oz

Grey, Wet, Windy and Very Slow - and that's just the anglers. Weather once again dominated a below average match at Rolfslake today at Rolfslake. Although temperatures were average for the time of year, heavy rain at times seemed to keep the fish down as most match anglers struggled for fish.

Russell Alexander pushed his head above the proverbial parapet to take 50lb 12oz from winter hot sport, peg 14. Fishing sweetcorn over pellet, Russell kept the feed down to temp a few fish into his waiting landing net. The win adds to the healthy total of match wins for the local angler.

Russell Alexander (Rolfslake)

Russell finds himself in the coin again at the Oxfordshire Complex. A good draw converted into a match win. Russell, takes his time over a Carp.

At any stage any of the Top 4 could have won the match. Tony Taylor mounted a great challenge from Peg 25, but a very late run of fish failed to give him victory, although he pip Dan Jones by just a pound with his 48lb 8oz. All anglers fished 16m with sweetcorn.

Reminder from Rolf: Easter Festival. Entrance Fees should be paid by Close of Play 01 Mar 05. Reserves may be given any unpaid slots from 01 Mar 05. You've all been warned.

PICTURE REVIEW

Gary Thorpe
GOT UP

A Winter Carp for Gary Thorpe. At last the team name has changed to the new bait company going by the name of GOT UP.

Bob Johnson
-

Bob enjoyed a few bites today.

Tony Taylor
Anchor

Tony had a good match but caught well too late in the match. A typical display of bait for Rolfslake in winter - Red Maggot, Casters, Sweetcorn, Pellet and some hooker pellet.
