Sunday 6th February 2005 - Open Match

Dave Wightman
(Simons 2000)
Peg 32 - 113lb

Fishing improved for the Sunday Open at Rolfslake. With the water temperature on the up (not a lot, but on the up!) the Carp even came up in the water and responded to those who feed a few extra pellets than the angler next door!'.

The best example of a positive feeding pattern was evident in Simons 2000 angler Dave Wightman. Drawn on Peg 32, Dave fished back in front of the vacant 33 at just 2m out. Fishing sweetcorn hook baits and feeding heavy with 4mm pellet, Dave managed a fine 113lb for a deserved match win.

(Simons 2000)

Dave fished a popular peg for a fine match win. Heavy feeding was the key to keeping the bites coming. Pictured with a 12lb Carp taken today.

Team mate, Bob Johnson, drew Peg 26 and put together a decent 74lb 4oz, but unlike most anglers, Bob fished soft hooker pellets for all his fish. Gary Thorpe (GOT UP) fished 2 pegs away on 24, he also switched to pellet for a few fish at the end but an earlier change may have been witness to a different result. Elsewhere, a little slow but a marked improvement to recent matches.

Reminder from Rolf: Easter Festival. Entrance Fees should be paid by Close of Play 01 Mar 05. Reserves may be given any unpaid slots from 01 Mar 05. You've all been warned.
