Saturday 6th Aug 2005 - Open Match
Gary Thorpe "Will not be stopping long today .... Said Trev & Gary after the draw." Gary however started very well with a number of Carp in the first hour. I had draw peg 6, which had returned 32lb for Trev Price yesterday! as it happened I was the only once to go home early. Trev started to catch in the later few hours of the match and Gary just kept the fish coming. The bigger lake struggled for fish as a hat full of anglers finished with lower Tons to contest the lesser places. It was Gary Thorpe that ran out clear winner with 233lb ahead of Trev on 168lb. Pete Archer did his normal shallow and light spray at 13m on Peg 10 for a notable 3rd with 158lb.
Very Soft paste remains the key in the margins. Not many anglers giving the spray much of an chance. Meat taking a few fish when struggling but overall the lake is fishing well. Plenty of bites in the last few hours. Starts are frustratingly slow. |
