Sunday 08 May 2005 - Open Match

Frank Wedgbrow
(Slapheads)
Peg 14 - 188lb 8oz

"Best Match Results this year as 8 Anglers top the TON in the Sunday Open "

There were a number of sensational weights in the Sunday Open at Rolfslake today. Brothers Frank and Colin Wedgbrow had to wait for the scales to pass judgment as Frank took the bragging rights over brother Colin with 188lb 8oz to 184lb. As with most anglers today, Frank and Colin fished a short 7m line to take Carp to double figures for their bumper returns. An initial full cup of 4mm pellet was topped up with regular helpings of free offerings to keep the fish interested. Although paste has yet to make an impact, with just a few fish being taken on the deadly bait, it will raise a few eyebrows that the Carp seem willing to respond on a shorter line.

Bragging rights secured against brother Colin with 4lb 8oz to spare.. (Old Photo - Rolf has a power cut..)

John Bennett pushed hard from peg 24 with 172lb and Nigel Johnson topped yesterdays Ton with 161lb for 4th place and some more coin. Dan Jones took 158lb tight to the bank at Peg 32, but fished much closer to the peg than normal. Ton Up weights continued down to 8th place with plenty of bites on most pegs to soft 6mm pellet over 4mm freebies.

PICTURE REVIEW

Colin Wedgbrow
Colmic

Beaten into 2nd place by brother Frank was little reward for a belting weight from Peg 30 for Colmic's Colin Wedgbrow.

Dan Jones
TUB

Dan was the 'Man' at peg 32. Fishing just down the first shelf was key for Dan as fish responded close to the bank.

Neil Reed
Tring

Neil witness a bonus Fish during the match for Colin Wedgbrow.
