Steve Flint
(Cove AC)
Peg 7 - 388lb
"Perfect weather, conditions and fishing for Cove AC "
In a weekend of big weights, Cove AC pitched in with now fewer than 15 Ton Up Weights. Steve Flint drew peg 7, about to be featured as the best peg in the country by one of the leading angling presses, and proceeded to bank 388lb - just 26lb short of the UK record. Steve's mammoth effort kept young pretender and son, Anthony, in second place from Peg 30 with 263lb and a new PB for Anthony. (I guess the 388lb was a PB for Steve too?) As a club match, unfortunately the weight will not stand in the Rolfslake hall of fame! However, the omens are looking good for the first record attempt next weekend.

Elsewhere, Rolf can't recall a match fishing so well on every peg for some time. Fish to be taken on Pellet, Paste, Meat & Huge Lumps of paste taking some very big fish to 20lb.
Rolf would like to pass on his thanks to Cove AC for making his day a pleasant one. Ten out of Ten was the quote, but I'm sure the sun is going to his head. No group of anglers have ever got 10/10. Well done to Cove AC. |
