Saturday 14th May 2005 - Open Match

John Haig
(Rolfslake)
Peg 15 - 122lb 4oz

  "Windy Conditions dominate."

Fishing 13m on a very windy day was as long as John Haig could present a decent bait at Peg 15, however, it proved to be just long enough as others struggled in high winds. Gary Thorpe on 24 and Norman Youlden on 14 both had fish in front of them but couldn't present a bait much further than 13m/14.5m - certainly not the 16m required sometimes at Peg 24. Norman had the advantage of being 3m further out than most on Peg 24 and pushed John Haig all the way. Both anglers had to weight for the scales to decide the outcome of the match with only one fish the difference in favor of John Haig on 15. Normans 117lb 4oz was good enough to keep GOT Baits matchman Gary Thorpe in 3rd place.

Rolfs Lake Mal Talbot

John Haig
(Rolfslake)

Enjoyed a decent days match fishing at Rolfs with a win from Peg 15.

Elsewhere, fish topping in the middle of the lake and plenty of bites for those who could present a decent bait at length. Fish didn't show on a short line today, but it's only a matter of day's now before the paste dominates match weights again.

PICTURE REVIEW
Norman Youlden
Rolfslake.

Norman's only little but compensates by setting his foot plate 4 inches higher than average.

I'm sure Norman will be the first to remind me that last time I stood on my foot plate I did a forward roll into peg 16!.
