Sunday 14th Aug 2005 - Open Match
Gary Thorpe "At least it didn't rain ALL day..... " Gary Thorpe spent most of the pre-draw chumping his gums about peg 9 being left out, but soon took it all back once he had drawn peg 32. He also made no mistakes converting the good draw into yet another match win at the Oxfordshire Match Venue with an net busting 285lb. Ironically, Russell Alexander sat on the peg Gary had yesterday and pushed his team mate all the way to the final whistle with a fine 266lb. In a match where Norman Youlden took 180lb for only 8th place from corner peg 40, it is not hard to see how Rolfs Lake is rated as the best big weight Commercial Match Fishery.
Elsewhere, plenty of fish to paste at 6m but fish are not coming onto the bait as they can! misreading line or shy bites can result in bumped or foul-hooked fish that will frustrate most. Coming up in the water and 'pinging' pellet over the top a good change option, the other being a switch to a hard 8mm pellet over the paste line. |
