Sunday 17th April 2005 - Open Match

Brian Rimmer
(Wickham Marsh)
Peg 24 - 74lb 8oz

"Bites at a premium - Carp rarer than Hens Teeth "

Once again Peg 24 dominated the Sunday Open with Brian Rimmer the lucky recipient of the Red Hot Peg. Not noted for being peggy, Rolfslake Opens have been witness to a steady parade of wins for the Peg at the end of the Car Park Bank. The key to the peg is a depression or dip just prior to the a large Bar at 15m. It was exactly there that Brian Rimmer presented his Pellet hook baits to entice a number of Carp to double figures. Brian cupped in half of one pot at the off and topped up as and when to keep the few fish willing to feed interested.

Drawing Peg 24 was the Key. Again! However, you've still got to do the business! That's exactly what Brian did today.

Out from his winter hide, Steve Liston made an impressive return to the venue he had a run of match wins last year with a 2nd today from one of the other currently inform Pegs: Peg 7. Norman Youlden did his best to keep Steve honest from the next peg but finished the worse off with 54lb 8oz to Steve's 58lb 4oz. John Oliver, Epson, joined in the 'one fish decider' with 53lb 8oz from peg 4 after taking a string of Carp close to the bank in the summer flyer. Dan Jones caught a few after Rolf turned on the Waterfalls, or Aerator as Rolf calls it, and returned 43lb 4oz for 5th place.
