Club - Maggot Drowners

Gary Thorpe
(GOT Baits)
Peg 14 - 227lb 8oz

"The Maggot Drowners Open - shouldn't that be the pellet flickers?"

That's the last time the Maggot Drowners will invite Gary Thorpe to fish one of their opens. Drawn on peg 14, Gary continued his long pole and spray onslaught to yet again dominate the match. When will someone else work out that the method on the deeper pegs at the moment is long pole and spray. Paste has started to go off - unless you have some shallow water or a bar in front - and the fish are happy to sit at 14m up in the water and feed all day - what is making it easier for Gary at the moment is that no one else or very few are plundering this line and Gary has a Niche Market! Sorry Gary but someone has to ask the question!

All the same Gary fished an impeccable match taking a number of fish on pellet and meat hookbaits over loose fed 4 and 6mm GOT Baits sinking pellets. Pete Thompson drew peg 19 and fished pellet and paste on top of the notable bar that exists at the inform peg. Pete had a great match but failed to keep pace with Gary on 14 but kept Keith Ashby at bay on peg 9 with 179lb to 167lb.

Rolfs Lake Match Winner

Peter Morton
(Maggot Drowners)

Hanging on to a fish on the Car Park Bank, Peter takes his time and lets the elastics do the work.

Although the smaller lake was expectantly slower. Matt Nutt took a good weight off peg 6 just to prove there a few fish to be had if you work at it. Only 4 Ton plus weights was a reflection of the the massive drop in air temperature.

Miss Doyle provided Dave with some expert advice on the day, unfortunately her expertise was in Mobile Phones and not Pellet and Paste!

Rolfs Lake Match Winner Jason Grant

That'll do. Jason takes a fish from Peg 32 to add to his total.

Rolfs Lake Match Winner Mark Causer

Waiting, waiting, Mark Causer concentrates on his next bite.

Keith Ashby

A heart stopping moment as a near 20lb fish boils just under the water. Peg 9 has produced some belting fish over the last few weeks and this one was no exception. At just over 18lb, Keith was more than happy to see it into the landing net.
