Mal Talbot
(Kamasan)
Peg 24 - 79lb 8oz
Peg 24 is the Peg of the moment and it seems that Mal Talbot and Gary Thorpe are keeping it all for themselves. Mal Talbot drew the red Hot Peg 24 in the Sunday Open today at Rolfs Lake and never looked back once he left the draw hut. Fishing at 15m with sweetcorn over small pellet produced enough bites and consequently enough fish to win at a canter. It seems that Peg 24 will almost double any other peg at the moment and who would bet against it winning again next week.
Although the Peg is on fire at the moment, credit must go to both Mal and Gary for producing the goods. Drawing a good peg is one thing, winning from it is another. Maybe had Gary and Mal drawn different pegs, just maybe we would have had different winning Pegs, who knows?

(I gave Gary Thorpe an ear bashing for drawing 24 two weeks on the trot, Mal - Consider you ears well and truly bashed....!!) |
Dave Wightman drew on Peg 37 in the shallow lake and fancied crack at the Silver fish coin, which he did eventually win with a few bonus Red Fins. However, by covering his bets by fishing light winter Carp tactics with Maggot and Pellet he also produced enough bonus Carp to boost this efforts to a runners-up 44lb. Stan Robak drew his customary flier from which he produced 40lb 12oz for 3rd place.
FINAL reminder from Rolf: Easter Festival. Entrance Fees should be paid by Close of Play 01 Mar 05. Reserves may be given any unpaid slots from 01 Mar 05. You've all been warned. |
