Rolfs' Diary 2006
Wednesday Open . Once again, the weights in the Wednesday Open were outstanding. With 130lb plus only good enough for lake regular John Bennett to drag himself into 10th place, it was no surprise the the winning weight was once again in excess of 350lb!
Indeed, there were some great milestones in the top ten results - such as
In strong contrast, Colin Wedgebrow, eventual runner up, took 360lb 12oz from peg 6 fishing on the deck at just 5m on peg 6, which can be hit or miss depending on the day/weather/or even what Rolf had for breakfast - no one really know's why its so good one day and rubbish* the next? I guess because the fish are either there or they're not! All the same Colin returned one of the highest weights ever NOT to win a match in Match Fishing History (email me if you know of a bigger weight?) Elsewhere, fishing fantastically! the new chocolate orange pellet is producing plenty of fish but needs to be fed by the handful to keep the big numbers of Carp interested in the peg. A change to squid, seems to be producing when the fish start to back off. Paste is most consistent but spraying shallow is producing the winning weights, not many have won fishing paste then switching to the 'Ping' It seems you'll need the courage of your own convictions and 'Go for IT'
