Rolfs' Diary 2006
Wednesday Open . Ok, Ok, I'll stop going on how well it's fishing on Wednesday's - After this result. Now, I'm not sure - but this just has to be the best match of all times on a commercial match fishery? And I bet you what you like, none of the weekly papers will even give it a passing note!
The match was summed up with Frazier Craig's Peg 7 effort; whilst fishing luncheon meat at 7m's the Good Hope AC Match Angler produced a fantastic 186lb of Carp into double figures. The great thing about this weight is that it was only good enough for 13th Place!! In a Match that had now fewer than 11 weights over 200lb, the winner Rob Kite of Good Hope AC returned 421lb 8oz. Rob fished paste at 8m for his haul that included Carp well into double figures and never really started catching well until an hour or so of the match had passed. Rolf was gob smacked at the number of big weights around the lake and added that he's never seen so many 200lb weights on a single day. The new pellet seems to be working well, moreover, the Chocolate Orange pellet has been key in a few recent winning weights - "They love it" the fishery owner reported to the website! Phil Powell hauled 351lb 12oz on the scales but already knew that he'd not done enough. Phil sprayed shallow at 9m on Peg 34 to keep the 9 other anglers that recorded 200lb+ weights at bay! |
