With over 25 anglers on the lake today, it was always going to be a challenge to amass a large weight with most of the fish cruising in the large lake.
With peg 15 out of the draw , the next pegs the regulars wanted were 32 and 28 which had shown good form the last month for fishing up in the water. As the weather was warm and sunny Rolf came down to see the guys and have a cup of tea which was nice to see.

Winner Phil Powell
In first place today was Rolfs Team Gold member Phil Powell fresh from winning the summer league, and was today drawn on peg 28 so it was always going be a shallow fishing day with his usual aray of rigs from between 1 and 4 feet fishing pellet and meat feeding heavy with pellet.
His hard earned win with a weight of 161-12 was made difficult with the fish not feeding at any particular depth and moving between peg 28 and 30 and also out of pole range, but Phil stuck to his plan and picked off fish through out the match.
In second place and on peg 29 was Vespre sponsored angler Pete Archer ,who kept the pressure on Phil by fishing shallow 1 to 3 feet and sharing the fish in the middle of the lake. Pete fished pellet hookbait feeding again very heavy with pellet to keep the fish interested for his weight of 139-08.
In third place was Mick Lane who fished peg 9 , fishing a combination of shallow with pellet, and the margins to his right just in front of the big bush over the first ledge for his weight of 132-04.
As the water levels drop over the next couple of weeks expect the paste to make a return to winning ways , as it is still quite deep on the inside line.
With the return of peg 15 in the draw bag expect a monster weight to be recorded as the peg is solid with fish at the moment and with the right angler and the right conditions, the lake record of 490-08 will be under serious threat for one lucky angler.
