Rolfs' Diary 2007

Boxmoore SC
.
9th Sept 2007

Today Rolfslake welcomed Boxmore Social Club to the lake, and the 18 anglers were very excited at the prospects of a good match with the usual banter and the hope of a good draw.

Most of the anglers wanted to fish one of the feature pegs ,either 8 ,32,15,or 23 as these had been in redhot form recently, and with the chance of breaking a personal best , the anglers were very eager to start the draw.

In first place today was Michael Twine ,who was fishing peg 7 in the small lake. Michael started the match catching silver fish ,and on one occasion when he was bringing a roach back in ,was startled when lots of elastic started comming out from his pole ,only to find out that Rolfs pet 32-00 pike had come for a roach snack.

Michael Twine

In After that excitement Michael set about fishing shallow with pellet, fishing between 1 and 3 feet and feeding constantly to catch carp upto double figures in his weight of 136-08 and a deserved win. In second place was Mick Taylor who was fishing peg 23 in the big lake, and fished short at a range of 9 mtrs and in the margins fishing pellet for his weight of 114-00. In third place was John Steven who was fishing another moody peg in the small lake, this time peg 38, and he fished long down the edge fishing pellet towards the big clump of grass for his weight of 88-08.

With 3 matches taking place during this week, the weights in this match were lower than normal, but the anglers had a good time and John would like to thank the anglers for taking care of the fish and hoped to see them soon.

The lake water level is starting to get to its normal platform level ,but there are still one or two under water ,so remember to still bring your wellies.

Book Early for Wednesday Opens to avoid disappointment.
