Today saw the return of another multiple winning angler to Rolfslake in the shape of Hydro 2000 sponsored Dave Whiteman , and he was welcomed by the regulars before the draw. With the weather starting to get cooler a draw in the big lake was what the anglers wanted ,and also a draw on the motorway bank as the sun shines on this side for longer during the day.
Today just to be awkward and win from the shallow lake was Rolfslake angler Jon Walker ,who was drawn on inform peg 6 and who fished at short range sub 10 mtrs fishing a combination of corn and Yorkshire Baits pellets to amass his super weight of 336-00 and a deserved win.
If there has been a more successful angler at this lake this year other than Jon then i do not know him or her, as Jon has won or framed more than any other angler at the lake using a variety of methods and baits . The only small blemish on Jon's record was not to record a weight of 400-00 this year as he had won matches with 100 ,200, 300 and 500lb weights so i cant be to hard on him, as there are still 11 weeks of the year left.
In second place was John Bennett who was fishing peg 16 on the big lake and who fished the bush to his left at a range of 4 mtrs using his favourite bait at this time of the year corn ,and his sunken float method {you have to see this method to believe it works} to record his weight of 270-12. Completing the frame was Hydro 2000 angler Dave Whiteman who was fishing peg 13 using a combination of corn and pellet to catch his weight of 162-00.

The big drama on the Friday before this match was when John Bennett arrived at the lake he found the top of the main gate bent down, and fearing that someone had broken in ,expected the worse. On walking around the lake everything seemed normal except a pile of wet clothes in a wheelbarrow by the hut ,so John fearing that someone had possibly drowned at the lake called the police, who were ready to treat this as a major incident and launch the police helicopter and fly to the lake.
A following phone call to another police department ,John found out that a man who was traveling by taxi got out at the lake jumped the gate and tried to drown himself, the taxi driver called the police and got to him just in time and they took him away, otherwise that would of been lake out of action for a while
