With the forecast for the weather today being rain and strong winds, the anglers were not looking forward to a five hour drenching today, and
with news of big weights getting around, the attendances for the Wednesday matches have started to grow again, which is good news for the lake. After the big weights from the Good Hope anglers who held a two day match last Friday and Saturday, and the monster 401-00lb weight caught by Miles Day from inform peg 15, all the talk at the draw was when will the lake record finally be broken.
As the anglers waited in turn to draw their pegs, I was hoping that peg 15 would be drawn before it was my turn as the pressure that this peg puts an angler under at the moment is incredible, so i was very happy when SPRO sponsored angler Loyd Moss put his hand in the drawbag and drew peg 15
[As predicted in last weeks results too! Lloyd] giving himself a frustrating 5 hours fishing as it was to prove.

Winner Colin Wedgebrow
In first place today was Rolfslake regular ,and Fishermans Friend sponsored angler Colin Wedgebrow who today had drawn peg 4 in the shallow lake. Colin today had set his stall to fish 4 meters in front of his peg , and to the bush to his right ,fishing a combination of meat / banded 8mm hard pellet and Yorkshire Bait Company's KopyKat 8mm soft pellet. The thing that makes Colin so successful ,is his ability to attack his peg feeding very heavy with pellet { 8 to 10 bags } to draw the fish into his peg from those anglers around him that do not feed enough to keep the fish interested.
Today's plan worked a treat for Colin as he kept the fish coming throughout the match , with plenty of big fish for an on the board weight of 145-00 in his total of 245-04 and a deserved win. In second place and 3 fish off a match win was Rolfslake angler Barry Morgan who was in the frame for the third match in a row, fishing peg 24 and who fished up in the water fishing pellet and again feeding very heavy with 6-8mm pellet for a weight of 223-12. Completing the frame was Phil Powell who fished peg 34 today ,using a combination of feeder towards the 12th buoy fishing meat on the hook, and shallow 1-2 feet deep fishing pellet feeding pellet for a weight of 174-04.
What happened to peg 15 I hear you ask ,well as predicted Loyd had a very frustrating day trying to draw the fish in, with strong winds, lashing rain and thunder to contend with, putting the fish down into the deeper water and off the silt bank. As Ii have said before peg 15 is a brilliant peg but it is not easy to sort out, so the record is safe for another week.
With the weather due to improve watch the big weights return to 300lb + and a few more fish being caught on paste.
John Bennett has asked me to mention that the planned winter league has now been converted to open matches so phone John to book your places as weekend open matches are pretty rare at the moment.
There is also a bank holiday open on the 25th of August, so again give John a call to book your place and get up to date news on how the lake is fishing.
Book Early for Wednesday Opens to avoid disappointment.
