Rolfs' Diary 2007
Spring League Match 1 of 6 With the Clocks rolling forward to announce the start of British Summer Time, there was little to indicate the turning of the seasons at Rolfslake today. A chilling wind and very few fish moving was hardly a reflection of the massive bags associated with the venue in the middle of this seasonal period. Not put off by the slow conditions 6 teams arrived at the draw with the fresh hopes of a new Spring League.
A Rare Day out Fishing for Fishery Owner - Rolf! Steve Palmer (SPRO) drew Peg 24 and fished a small feeder with bread flake hook baits that were presented close to the rising bar at 16m+. With the rest of the field struggling, Andrew Cameroon on Peg 17 managed to find a few fish, but struggled to keep them on the hook with a succession of bumped and dropped fish. Frustrating for Andrew by his 75lb was only good enough for 2nd place in what could have been a clear winning margin. It's not unusual at this time of the year to have days like these with slow finicky feed fish. In a chilling wind not even the silver fish put in an appearance, although lake owner did put in a rare match outing with 3oz's taken from Peg 2 in A section. Team Speedy have put down a marker for the six match series with a fine 16 point victory in the 6 Team event. Rolf has started the Wednesday Opens for all interested with a 1pm draw, fishing 2pm to 7pm. Give Rolf a call on his mobile (see Match Days Link at top for full details.)
