John then spent an enjoyable 5 hours placing a feeder tight to the far bank. Feeding and fishing pellet and meat in the feeder for a winning weight of 270lb.
Fishing on the big lake peg 13 was Rolfslake matchman Phil Powell, Phil used a combination of fishing shallow on the pole and down the margins. In a very close match, Phil was only one fish short of John winning weight with a hard earned 262lb for runners up spot. With Colin Wedgebrow on the peg 8 the combination of consistent peg and consistent anger that resulted in a 3rd placed return of 248lb; Colin employed his normal hard banded pellet over pellet approach in the margins and just down the 1st ledge.
The battle fourth ended in a draw for Rob Kite and Steve Johnson who both weighed 164.lb 12oz.
A very special thank you to John Bennett , Ian McColloch and Phil Powell saved a host of Carp earlier in the week from being left high and dry in the flooded water that had encroached the lake surrounds following the stream breaching it's banks and flooding the lake complex. Hours of work resulted in hundreds of Carp to double figures being saved and pegs prepared for the next Club/Open Match - well done Guys and Rolf sends his personal thanks again.
With Rolf recovering from his operation, John Bennett and friends are ensuring the lake stays open. Rolf has provided some amazing fishing for many anglers over the years and it seems there's no shortage of matchmen and friends willing to help out in this very difficult time - If anyone wants to give John Bennett a day off - give him a call!
ETG is acting as 'Match Reporter' - anyone wanting to take a digital camera would help out a great deal, I'll post the best with the reports; just send me an email via the admin at rolfslake.co.uk.
I'm determined to keep the site going without Rolfs normal/constant input but will need reports and pics to do so - Thanks so far to John, Eddy for the results.
