Today saw the start of the Wednesday Opens and after the last few weeks of Festivals and club matches, the anglers were hoping for the usual big weights that these matches throw up due to the later starts.
Also today there was another local match on the car-park bank and with 4 other pleasure anglers on the lake the fish were spoilt for choice. Rolf is currently very poorly in hospital and i have passed on his angling friends good wishes for a speedy return home.

Bombay Bad Boy - Phil Powell

Today in first place was Rolfslakes in-form angler Phil Powell who was fishing peg 18 the last peg on the motorway bank ,and who stuggled for the first two hours of the match. Phil today was fishing the long pole towards peg 19 and also 16 mtrs out towards the middle of the lake, fishing on the deck using punched meat and corn feeding pellet heavier than normal for his winning weight of 158-04. In second place was John Bennett who was fishing next to me on peg 14 and for three hours i was ahead of him ,but a change to the margins to his right enabled John to pull away in the last hour catching fish to 12lb in his weight of 123-08 by using a combination of corn and big pellet fished on the deck. Completing the frame was Vespe sponsored angler Pete Archer who fished totally different to the rest, by fishing up in the water at depths of between 2 and 5 feet using pellet hookbait feeding very heavy for his weight of 98-04.

The lake is currently in perfect condition, with plenty of fish to be caught all around the lake to a variety of methods and baits.
