What a great turnout for a Wednesday match in October, with 17 anglers and 10 pleasure anglers on the lake today it meant the fish were going to get some food.
Completing his third win of the season was local angler Liam Bough who works at the local fishing tackle shop {Maggots End} in Oxford, and who today was drawn on current form peg 32 by the hut.
Liam who has been coached by John Bennett, today fished just like his 'master' at short range down the edge, fishing on the deck with his float dotted down and using corn as hook bait. The fishing was not as good as it usually is but Liam picked off fish at regular intervals for his final weight of 96-08 {well done Liam}.
In second place was meat basher Mick Jones who was also drawn on another form peg this time 26, and who fished the features on the deck using meat and pellet catching fish to 10-00 in his weight of 90-08. Completing the frame was Ian McCulloch, who was also on the car park bank, peg 28 and who fished differently from the rest, as he used the waggler shallow feeding carefully as not to spook the fish away and was rewarded with fish also to 10-00 in his weight of 76-12.
John informs me that with the club match season coming to an end the lake will now be holding Saturday opens to go with the current Wednesday opens.
