Today was the second of the Wednesday Opens,and the anglers were greeted with lovely sunshine and the car park bank full of pleasure anglers.

With the usual Wednesday regulars not available to fish today it was great to see a lot of new faces at the draw and they were going to experience Rolfslake back to its best. With fish showing everywhere you were spoilt for choice where to draw, and the anglers hoped that the fish were in a feeding mood.

Rolf continues to be very poorly in hospital and i have again passed on the anglers best wishes in their hope to see him soon.

In first place today was Rolfslake owner John Bennett who had both types of luck, bad and awful as he lost his lucky rig and dropped his new phone into the lake. John also spent 20 minutes trying to recover the top four of an anglers tourni pro that had broke off and was seen going around the lake before it sunk to the bottom.

John today was fishing peg 16 in the big lake and for the first hour was catching steady on the feeder using corn hookbait ,but a change to the margins fishing the bush to his left using meat increased his catch rate with fish to 14-00 in his final weight of 249-04 and the top weight in matches this year.

3 Day's Earlier the lake was Snowbound

In second place was Derek Hammond who was fishing next to John on peg 18 and  who fished the margins using corn and meat hook baits fished down the slope again catching big fish in his weight 214-04. Completing the frame was Jof Rodgers who was fishing next to me on peg 8 ,and who had a enjoyable day fishing at first at 4 mtrs and then a change later in the match to the far bank {16mtrs against the grasses} increased his catch rate to his final weight of 195-05 and one fish short of the third double ton of the day.

The lake is in great condition at the moment ,with lots of big fish to be caught so expect big weights to continue. Dont forget that the lake is only available to fish on Wednesday matches and the odd few weekends, so phone John Bennett for more details.
