Rolfslake match record rocked.
As the anglers gathered at the draw, the day was sunny and warm and the anglers were expecting a good days fishing and again Rolfslake did not disappoint
In first place today was Rolfslake/ Walker floats angler Mick Lane who was fishing on form peg 28 on the car park bank. With the fish spawning and showing themselves on the surface, Mick decided to fish up in the water at a range of 13 mtrs. Mick is probably one of the best anglers on the lake when it comes to fishing up in the water and catching fish at speed, and today he had plenty of time to demonstrate this as he caught at a depth of between 1 and 2 feet fishing pellet and meat .

Match Winner - Mick Lane
As the day progressed Mick drew the fish towards him and eventually was catching at 5 metres with big fish up to 14lb becoming more regular in his on the board weight of 130lb. At the end of the match as the anglers gathered around Mick thinking that a special weight was on the cards , and with the sight of 4 nets and 130lb on the board they were thinking that a new lake record was on ,but after many weighs and a double check on the adding up Mick ended up with 512-00 and 18lb short of the lake record, but still a fantastic weight well done Mick. In second place was lake owner John Bennett who was fishing peg 7 in the small lake, and who fished the feeder as he was suffering with a bad back, but struggled to his weight of 299-04 fishing towards the rope fishing meat hook baits spraying pellets over.
Last in the frame was my fishing mentor Colin Wedgebrow who was on peg 9 and who fished at 4 and 7 mtrs to the left hand bush , fishing banded pellet and feeding very heavy for his weight of 244-12.
The lake is in great condition at the moment, but please remember to book in to reserve your place on these matches as they are very popular at the moment.
