Match Reporter ETG.

With the Saturday opens starting today the anglers were greeted with a frosty morning and a very cold wind blowing across the lake. Today also saw the return of some of the anglers that have been missing during the Wednesday opens over the autumn months.

In first place today on a very difficult day was Hydro 2000 sponsored angler Dave Wightman who today was drawn on motorway bank peg 16.

Dave today alternated between a short line towards the bush to his left and a long line 13 mtrs straight out in front fishing corn hook bait and pellet which he fed cautiously, picking off the odd fish on both lines for his final weight of 71-08.

In second place was the returning Jon Walker who has been missing from the lake for some time due to work commitments, but still found himself drawing flyer peg 32 {somethings never change} and decided to fish long towards peg 33 and the bush to his left.

Jon also fished corn and pellet and after 5 hours found himself one small carp off first place with 69-00. Completing the frame was lake owner John Bennett who was drawn opposite Jon on peg 13 in the corner of the big lake, and with very few fish to aim at used both the feeder and the pole at 8 mtrs to catch his 8 fish for 47-12.

John Bennett informs me that there will be Saturday Opens from now on so please give John a call if you fancy some winter bagging. Draw 9.30 Fish 10.30 – 3.30.

Never happier than when his sponsored 'Hydro' is being pulled. Dave continues to add to his long list of match wins at Rolfslake; a popular win for the Big Man.
