What a glorious day to go fishing.
Today- the anglers were greeted down the lake with near perfect conditions , warm sunny weather and a gentle breeze with fish cruising on the surface.

With the lake on fabulous form at the moment and ahead on big weights for this time of year, it will only be a matter of time before the right angler on the right peg threatens the official world record of 490-08 {again held at Rolfslake}.

With the attendances growing on these Wednesday opens, all the regular big weight anglers have been coming back to try and be the first angler to break the 400-00 barrier.

Today the winner was flyer peg drawer Iain McCulloch who drew the long walk peg 32 {not really it was by his car} and had a great 5 hours fishing. Iain fished the bush to his left just over the bush and towards peg 33. The bait used today was pellet with pellet hook bait fished on the deck, which brought Iain a run of big fish to 15lb in his on the board weight of 121lb and a final weight of 284-00 {well done Iain}. In second place was Jeff Edwards who was on peg 30, and who started on the long pole fishing shallow with little success but a switch to paste fished short 6 mtrs brought his peg to life and he caught for the final two hours with his final weight being 172-12.

Completing the frame was Steve Perham who fished a combination of long pole shallow and down the edge using pellet and corn and he also caught big fish in his weight of 147-04. John Bennett told me to remind our regular visitors that there will be an open on Bank Holiday Monday {draw 12.00 fish 1 to 6pm } so please book in with John. The next available opens will be on the 9th and 16th of May draw time 12.00 fish 1-6 pm again please book in as the Saturday opens will be limited after this. Also for all our regulars to remember that at least 3 nets are required if you want to weigh silvers in the matches as they cannot be mixed in with the carp, and with the big weights at the moment a limit of 100lb of fish per net only .
