Rolfs Diary:
25 Feb 2009 [Open]
Today saw the return of a Wednesday open as there were a few anglers who fancied a day’s fishing amongst the pleasure anglers. The weather today was sunny with a cold wind blowing across the lake so the big lake was used for the match and the pleasure anglers fished the small lake.
In first place today was Kevin Doulton who was fishing peg 13 on the motorway bank Kevin today fished the pole towards the bush to his right at a range of 14 mtrs and used corn as hook bait fished on the deck, and was kept busy during the five hours as he caught carp to double figures in his final weight of 140-06.
In second place was George Callend who used the bomb and maggot towards the end of the bar that runs through the middle of the lake and was rewarded with a few fish to stay ahead of third place with 58-00. In third place was Reading angler John Tilley who was drawn opposite Kevin on peg 27 and who fished the pole using corn, but found fish much harder to catch but still put a respectable 55-08 on the scales.
In the small lake the regular pleasure anglers also caught carp using a variety of baits fished on the deck, but reported that the fishing was slow although there were lots of fish showing down the bottom end of the lake. John Bennett informs me that there will be Saturday Opens from now on so please give John a call if you fancy some winter bagging. Draw 9.30 Fish 10.30 – 3.30.
